At this time, you might have guessed that the title goes to none other than Kamal Hasan. Went out to Hartford from Boston to get a view of the actor in 10 roles on the giant screen. Man, wasn't it worth the effort? I would say "YES".
First to the negatives
1. There were 3 or 4 scenes where the graphics was not up to the mark. I mean didn't match up the standard set by the same movie.
2. Some times, in the close-ups, the make up shows
3. The first 15 minutes, the period where he tries to get you in to the scheme of things, is a dampener.
4. Asin in 12th century is just a joke.
Positives:
There is whole lot. As you can see, there are no negatives in the lines of story or the screen play or the bg music or the way songs have been handled. It all fits perfectly in their slots.
THEN THE MAN HIMSELF. Is there some one else who coule pull it off? My god! The elan with which he carries the roles... mind blowing. You cannot really beleive that its one person who is doing all ten of the roles. The body language, the style of each character stands out with a stamp of individuality. Demi god he is! Pick of the characters are Balram Naidu (CBI), Kaif Ullah (Tall guy), Fletcher (CIA). Balram and Ullah have you in splits. Fletcher come through as a stylish villain.
Crazy mohan jumps in with his style in places more than one. The funny interludes are just awesome and runs with the story. Now that's what makes the Crazy-Kamal combo one of the best in business. Screen play is really good. The narration races in front of you and before you could realize its half-time and then the SECOND HALF BETTERS the first half, in every frame.
The CLIMAX FIGHT is a must-watch! How all the 10 characters stick to each other in the narration shows the class. Kamal puts it rightly as "Chaos theory". The ACTION SCENES are very well done and is class apart.
The movie ends with trademark Kamal style "Kadavul illaennu naan eppo sonnaen? Irundhaa nalla irukkumnu dhaan sonnaen" (When I did say that "God does not exist". I only said that it would be good if he exists). The movie would really set some bench marks in areas more than one which would be hard to beat or meet in the near future. The movie is not time warped as well... you can even watch it 10 years down the lane!
Ulaga nayagan rocks!!!!

Nandri for the review. I see mixed reviews in the web though.
Looks like a ardent kamal fan review...i need an impartial real review of the movie....
Kamal Fan avargale... Review lam nalla dhan irukku... Await for "Subbudu's" review... I mean, my review...
Kamal deserves much more Great successes for his efforts, but unfortunately most of his stories/concepts were too complex for a normal movie fan. Anbe Sivam failed when Thirupachi was an hit!!! (Enna Koduma Sir idhu)
Reading about 12th century, Saivism-Vaishnavism clash, Bio weapons, etc, I was afraid if the same would happen in this movie, but from what I have heard, this movie is said to be really good to watch.
When there are such huge expectations, its very hard to satisfy all segments. I think the team had managed to deliver to the expectations. Anyways I ll have to see the movie to confirm that.

Asin was a joke in the 21st century too...thaanga mudiyala..
some of the make up looked really scary..but oh well..his acting is just above my level of description..
i loved naidu's role..:)
Just returned from the movie... The movie was 'Good'... My review is on its way..
Fletcher was the Best in the movie (infact, to me he is the hero) followed by the Rangarajanambi... And then comes Mr Naidu!! Man he was funny.. :)
well honestly, i thot the movie will be a total flop and went for it but i liked it. as usual kamal was grt, but i felt a few characters r unnecessary. and i dont agree when u said all the ten roles compliment each other. i feel like ard 4/5 character sticks out.
n yeah , the graphics is sooooooooooo bad.
Hmmmm...but recently i really couldn't enjoy crazy mohan's sense of humor anymore in the movies...it sounds too outdated and only fit for stage dramas! And hope i can also catch this movie sometime!
@ Arun - Yeah its a mixed response every where. But I donno why few ppl think its bad!
@ Maloo - Never! This review wasn't biased.
@ Mac - Dei...This is naattaamai review da!
@ Prathu - Mallika has been wasted machaan! No ROLE for her.
@ Kavitha - Glad you are among the 90% people who liked the movie.
@ Mac - I told you!
@ Raz - I realize that not all characters were necessary for the story/movie. But look at how screen play tags them together.
@ Ela - Are you serious?
patti char psyched me up so much that i hate the whole scene and i am still hating it when the next scene comes.
