Partiality...

Mr.Karunanidhi - for all the respect you commanded by means of your work in tamil literature, art and for the state of Tamil Nadu, you would have done well not to have gone public with your sentiments on Hindus wearing sacred ash on their fore head.

I seriously do not understand the concern. Time and again, he picks a needle to prickle with the sentiments of hindus. If they prefer to wear sacred ash, so be it. There are helluva other concerns to be addressed in this state. And he doesn't dare to touch the sentiments on other religions. I presume an atheist doesn't believe in existence of God as claimed by any religion. So if he claims to be one, he got to denounce all. Why bashing only one section?

This action of his, the seasoned politician that he is, is to merely distract the people from other compelling issues. He played the "God sent" trump card of Srilankan Tamil issue for some time to keep people occupied. Now that one is shunning down, he had to resort to playing his old trick of Hindu bashing. What really bothers him about wearing a sacred ash or wearing a sacred thread is some thing that is beyond my capacity to comprehend.

So Mr.Kalaignar avargale, If you want to follow some thing, follow it. We do not give a damn about it and we do not expect others to dictate what we should do about our religious sentiments. So please buckle up and get back to your work. One entire state is waiting for you to do something for them. You would be better placed to answer that call.

Peace!

Karunanidhi is the epitome of cunningness aka kullanarithanam. As you have mentioned, it is yet another political trump card which he has now taken in his hands.

You know what, by hurting the sentiments of Hindus he portrays a picture that he favours Muslims and Christians. I do not about the Christians, but as far as Muslims are concerned, he has done more harm than any good.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the hundreds of innocent Muslim youth who are in the jail for no charge against them during the Coimbatore blast (by saying this I dont deny the fact that Al-Umma was involved the blast). This has not come out in the mainstream media, but several families in Kovai have come to the streets since the bread winners of their families are serving in the jail. They have served more term than they would have, even if the charges against them are proved.

This is only a tiny droplet in the ocean. A jamath called TNTJ held a huge demonstration against Karunanidhi very recently in Chennai for all the atrocities he has created, though it NEVER comes out in the media.

I prefer Jayalalitha, who is brave enough to practise her faith openly and does not take religion in her hands for this.

K ellam pasu thol porthia onaan.

Karunanidhi was never an atheist.. He was/is always an anti-hindu... When he decides to participate in religious rallies, he chooses the minority religions of the state for votes... But, when he decides to hurt sentiments, he chooses hindus... Thats coz, Hindus of TN have a bad memory!!!

And when you say "partiality" I completely agree with your views... If he was not really partial, he should have also included costumes that other religions wear/use to portray and differentiate themselves from the rest of the public...

Karunaganidhi says "such things are not needed in a country which preaches equality of all religions"... He has to understand that equality for all religions doesn't mean all religions should follow the same practices and rules.. It means, in a multi-religious society, all religions have their right to follow their own practices and rules and treat everyone equally...

Probably, its just coz of his age... In his age, he should be enjoying his retired life or should have died by now.. But it is very unfortunate that someone who cannot stand continuously for 2 minutes, is ruling Tamilnadu! Its high time Kalaingar quits politics and concentrates full-time on cinemas encouraging fresh talents and attending film poojas and 100th day celebrations...

Peace...

nv,
good post.
yeah, people are better off keeping their convictions to themselves. why explain and seek acceptance?

and the only call i think kalaingar should answer is the final one from up above.

We should not be TOLD how to live our lives..or what not to do, especially when it comes to religion and what's associated with it!

Egh...Why did he say this, again? Does he get seizure by seeing it on other people's forehead? I'm confused!
