Oh yeah... its been a month since I wrote my last post. Why wasn't I writing? Not that I was writing down 2 posts every day before this hiatus... Yeah back to the question... why wasn't I writing? Going by my blog's name "Blasé", I did not want to become uninterested in blogging by doing it too frequently... and why would I return now? Just to keep my account and blog active :P
Where in the world is Innocence?
For the uninitiated...
in·no·cence Pronunciation[in-uh-suhns] –noun
1.the quality or state of being innocent; freedom from sin or moral wrong.
2.freedom from legal or specific wrong; guiltlessness: The prisoner proved his innocence.
3.simplicity; absence of guile or cunning; naiveté.
4.lack of knowledge or understanding.
5.harmlessness; innocuousness
I thought, even before I talk about it, I should define innocence. Its quickly fading away from all of us... yes faster than the indian tigers. While it would be phenomenal to have your kid who can multiply 4378997832566 with 6374657498498 and come up with the answer in a split second... what fun can you derive out of it?
Yeah the innocence. That's more phenomenal... that is some thing that's gonna obviously fade away from you as you grow older. Why kill it immediately?
What is special to have a cutie that can wag like a talk host? Why the kid? Oh yeah... that innocence... that harmlessness... that simplicity.... with which they are supposed to operate. The innocence with which the child smiles when you throw him up in the air... he thinks you gonna catch him.. oh wait... does he think about the consequence at all??? Nay!!!! What if the same kid says "Hey buster... listen...you gonna throw me up now and if you aren't 200% sure that you will be able to catch me.. then forget this and go get yourself some stupid kid who can play with you like this". Would you want to play with that kid any more? This is just not an exaggeration as it might sound or look like. I, on my experience with the kids... have often seen that they talk and behave like matured blokes even before they went to their Pre-KGs. I hate such kids.. they aren't kids... just that they are smaller in height and lighter in weight than me or any other grown up.
To be innocent is a boon!!! It is so very a special gift that even god doesn't let you enjoy that during or after your adolescence. Its that very small period.
In that pursuit to make your kid stand taller and brighter among the whole set, you are actually not letting them live their life. You want to secure their life even before they can walk properly. Such is our sense of insecurity and we directly pass it on to them. How happy we would be if TCS or Infosys or Cognizant can recruit your kid on his first birthday and constantly press him, from then on, to become what the company wants him to be?
And what really matters when I deprive the kid from innocence? Nothing really other than what we have managed to achieve until now...
1. School goers resolving to shoot outs: I was not even allowed to see a shoot-out scene in the movie when I was a kid... The school-starter now knows to steal father's pistol and pull the trigger. Parents got to be proud. Put him in military. He knows to operate'em all! What a proud moment huh?? It was not until long ago that these were confined to the distant western countries. We have drawn a leaf out of their books. School verandaas are not the safest place to relax any more.
2. Morality: How kids have transformed these days? I wouldn't dare to strike a conversation with one. You never know when it is coming at you. There prevails no values among the kids... how many kids know and respect their relations? It is quickly dying.... No wonder.. when you leave your 10 month old kids with a baby sitter... it takes a huge effort from the kid to remember their parents name... leave alone the relatives.
3. Oh the disgusting school-sex and what not?
If only parents could invest more time and effort in parenting... Its not that you only teach them how to earn money... also impart some values in to the kids.
Other wise we will leave a bunch of reckless people in this world after us.
